A look at some elements that appeared at the Oscars

Fire excites.  Water makes you feel.  Here are two examples of those energies in action taken from the Oscars this past Sunday.

Patricia Arquette stoked the flames in the audiences hearts when she used her acceptance speech to command attention to the need for equal wages and equal rights for women. Meryl Streep was so excited that she stood up and pointed “Yes!”.  Patricia is a double fire sign, with her Sun in Aries and her Moon in Leo.  Not to mention that at the time of her speech transiting Venus and Mars were in Aries (fiery passion) and stimulating her natal Aries Mercury in the 9th house (her fiery mind naturally tuned into 9th house matters, like politics).

The excitement brought Meryl to her feet shouting “Yes!”

Common and John Legend’s performance of “Glory” stirred up a lot of emotion in the audience.  Tears continued to flow as they took turns with the acceptance speech after winning the award moments later.  Common is a double Water, with both his Sun and Moon in compassionate all-embracing Pisces.  The last line of the speech, in reference to the “spirit of the bridge” at Selma couldn’t sum up the Pisces energy any better: “This bridge was built on hope, welded with compassion and elevated by love for all human beings”.

Common and Legend made a point to have their acceptance speech tie directly into the important themes equal rights for all human beings prolonging the high emotions in the audience.

David Oyelowo has Venus in Pisces as did Martin Luther King. Relating to others (Venus) in an all-accepting compassionate way (Pisces). MLK also had a Pisces Moon which puts those themes even more centered into his soul.

All in all a very enjoyable Oscars!

Here comes the Sun: Knowing your life energy. Part 3- Fire

Your Sun sign keys you into understanding the fundamental energy that you run on.  There are four basic different categories of this energy: Earth, Water, Air and Fire.  Start with understanding your element and then move on to understand it’s specific qualities within your sign.

Today we are taking a look at the energy of Fire.

Fire energy is excitable and motivating.  There is dramatic charge with Fire.  Fire energy needs inspiration and action to get moving.  It is the most outward (yang), it needs to express.

Cardinal Fire: Aries.  Cardinal energy as we have learned is all about INITIATION.  With initiative fire we arrive at the archetype of the pioneer.  Boldly going where no one has gone before.  One who embraces new beginnings with courage and gusto.

Double Aries Marlon Brando was wearing jeans and white t-shirts way before everyone else. He embodied a style of rock n roll before rock n roll was even happening! This is the spirit of Aries.

Fixed Fire: Leo.  Leo is naturally associated with the Sun.  The Sun is Fixed Fire, a.k.a Fire MAINTAINED and burning bright.  Leo energy basks in the limelight, exudes a natural confidence and celebrates it’s own radiance with play and spontaneity.

Double Leo Halle Berry visibly exudes the Leonine confidence in the manner she carries herself and communicates. It’s no wonder that she often lands roles in which she is supposed to show this kind of energy, whether it’s as a Bond-girl or a sly and stealthy “Catwoman”.

Mutable Fire:  Sagittarius.  If inspirational and excitable Fire energy is constantly ADAPTING, REFINING and CHANGING itself we may be looking at a person with strong and impassioned beliefs and opinions, based on what they’ve learned along life’s path.  Sagittarius wants to learn, and identify itself with what it’s learned.  But in the Mutable spirit- always continue learning, changing and evolving- hence we get the archetype of the free-spirited traveller, the student, or one who seeks more and more knowledge/ life experience.

Double Sagittarius, Jon Stewart’s fire burns strong as he explores all sorts of different structures of belief and opinion in response to current events. In the true spirit of Fire, he makes sure to always add a sparkling sense of humor to these thoughtful expeditions.

The next post will wrap up this Sun Sign series as we will explore the light and socially-inclined element of Air.
