Venus, the planet of connectivity is floating with fiery exuberance in the sign of Sagittarius until early November. With Jupiter, the planet of enthusiasm providing a supportive trine to the Sun and Mars in social Libra, it seems a good week to ponder the effect of enthusiastic connection.
Picture a dog, your dog if you have one, running towards you with tongue out to the side, eager to connect with you, eager to embrace a tussle. This is the spirit of enthusiastic connection.
Thoreau called enthusiasm a “supernatural serenity”. Finding the things that awaken this supernatural serenity stirs a special energy. It is similar to lightning striking a rock to make a magnetic lodestone. Once the rock is magnetized it knows where true north is. Enthusiastic connections strengthen one’s magnetic field, making it easier to navigate life in general.
What do you like? It wasn’t always that this word triggered the image of a blue thumbs up icon. What you like has to do with your own mystery. It has to do with your own mysterious road map. It has to do with your free-will as it combines with your dynamic calling. What you like opens up your future. What you like is your own romantic path. What you like is a special clue to who you are, your spark of individuality as it reaches a steady glow. Serene and supernatural.
If you are not in touch with what you like you won’t pencil what you like into your day. Lightning goes wasted. Landscapes shrink. You will forget all about your powers of enthusiasm. And this week, that will make the Goddess of beauty weep!
William Blake said “Exuberance is beauty”. Venus’ connectivity is most natural when a bubbling up of enthusiasm is present. Just imagine a fun party as compared to a boring one, or a first date with sparks versus awkward moments. Enthusiasm and connectivity are peas in a pod. Snuggle bugs in a rug. They make things easy for eachother but this easiness is also dynamic like lightning. As long as some logic mediates their passions, connectivity and enthusiasm will consistently perk up the heaviest parts of the soul. Supernatural and serene, lightning sometimes strikes twice, 3 times or 50!
What a week we have in store, with a Solar Eclipse and so much more. The New Moon Sagittarius Solar Eclipse kicks of the beginning of the week with a burst of spirited horsepower. For the people in Chile it will really be a treat- as the Full light of the Sun will it’s opposite meet, in the darkness of daylight the insects will pause their applause, the temperature drops along with thousands of jaws. Parts of Argentina will see this as well, but alas, not here in the NorthEast of the U.S. Yet even though en masse, our heads won’t be up, this event invites us to still get revved up, and feel united in a moment when time seems to disengage- Silent and in sight of, a brilliant New Age.
As Existentialist writer and philosopher, Rollo May said, “Human freedom involves our capacity to pause, to choose the one response toward which we wish to throw our weight.”
Saturn, the old SeaGoat of Time and Order, is at last committing to it’s forward journey into Aquarius on Thursday, the 17th. Back in late March, Saturn tested these strange Aquarian waters, but retrograded back into Capricorn by the beginning of July. This time, he advances with out looking back, and to make matters ever the more exciting, he will be joined by our Seasonal spirited horse, Jupiter, who will as well move into Aquarius on Saturday, the 19th. Saturn will continue in Aquarius until 2023, and Jupiter, until the end of next year. By the year 2023, big and powerful Pluto will step into this future as well, and be in the sign of Man until the year 2043.
It could be said, quite naturally, that the Aquarian Age is officially here. Aquarius, the sign of Freedom, Future, Evolution and Awareness. The Age of Aquarius is the age in which we become dynamically aware of our own Evolution.
Freedom, and the capacity to pause to choose a worthy response. A great cause for a pause.
As Mark Twain said, “the right word may be effective; but no word was ever as effective as a rightly timed pause.”
A worthy response reflects your true values. Little bells that ring like wind chimes inside and integrate a strong resonance of self. To become aware of our evolution is to become aware of the truly important values, for one and for all. A global wind chime with a resonance so strong, it is sensed in the present as a place we belong.
The future lives strong in the open space of a pause.
Speaking of open spaces, we are in the last week of Sagittarius, the sign of the horse, who’s affinity for open spaces is surpassed by none. The heart of the Sun and the mind of Mercury are already galavanting in the open green, and they will be joined on Tuesday by the gorgeous goddess of love. She charges forth with spirit, inspired by the previous day’s New Moon Eclipse.
The Goddess of Love knows all about the pause, as others might call it a rest. It is her sacred space, her negatively charged grace, like a waterfall under a Full Moon, or the aftermath of a rainy afternoon- she will applause the pause as one of nature’s best laws.
Mars deep in Aries, standing tall like Michelangelo’s The David, demonstrating courage in a most powerful and mature way as he comes into square with Pluto in Capricorn. His power coming from a sense of readiness. A mature and powerful readiness, to choose the right response to which he throws his weight.
Uranus in Taurus- Conscious evolution strengthening the all in tandem with strengthening the self- as Teilhard de Chardin wrote, “No evolutionary future awaits man except in association with all other men.”
Neptune in Pisces- Imagine all the people living for today
The Moon
After the phenomenon of Mondays New Moon Eclipse, she will grow with sturdiness, as into Capricorn she slips. Tuesday and Wednesday will be excellent times, to reel in your energies and hear those wind chimes.
Expect strong breezes on Thursday, as she grows in Aquarius, the same day that Saturn takes that bold first step into the reality of the Water Bearer. We bearers of water, holding shape-shifts of responses, with awareness is birthed many new rennaisances! Celebrate the coming of a new age today, in the Season of the Horse, indulge in some full-hearted faith in the future.
The weekend welcomes a growing Pisces Moon and the atmosphere takes on a dreamy dimension, just in time for Jupiter’s entrance into Aquarius, where optimism meets the reality of future. Mercury will also be conjunct the Sun, integrating the life of the mind with the centrality of the heart. Limitless mind and centering heart, both which operate on through the powers of connection. To value these powers is to know our direction.
In the wake of this week’s New Moon Solar Eclipse,
A Full Moon eclipse crowns the last day of November, dazzling in Gemini before the start of December.
Gemini sparkles with reflection of thought. The flint of the fire, and all we’ve been taught. Sparkling and glittering for centuries back- sensing a freedom and enlarging the crack, so more creativity can leak in, and keep us on track.
The archer pulls back the string of his bow. The arrow in flight shows the way life likes to grow.
From his book, The Phenomenon of Man, Teilhard de Chardin says this of Man’s true place in evolution: “Man is not the center of the universe as we once thought in our simplicity, but something much more wonderful- the arrow pointing the way to the final unification of the world in terms of life. Man alone constitutes the last-born, the freshest, the most complicated, the most subtle of all the successive layers of life.”
Sagittarius, the Season we are in right now, is that very arrow. The life of life itself, and it’s direction of growth.
With love, the future sets us free! The distant future, and the one of immediacy. In a world where nothing is static- the question does become, in which direction are you moving, and from where have you come? This is a question that can be asked at any given moment.
Sagittarius Season is bubbling with an effervescense, spreading with delightful incandescense, to remind us of our truest essence. Outward on streets, lights spring up as expected, inward a fire glows warm with direction.
Mercury will be in the deepest degrees of Scorpio on Monday, for the Gemini Full Moon eclipse. Gemini rules the hands. Teilhard de Chardin says that our arms became free, so we could hold our hands to our face, with narrower eyes, we could percieve what we hold in front of us- and thus, reflective thought was born. He says “Man came silently into this world”.
The next day, as December begins, the trickster goes into Sagittarius, with a growing confidence. The trickster realizes he holds the keys, his hands are free, like the sky and the sea.
Venus, the love goddess stirs in Scorpio. She overhears the trickster’s epiphany, and creates a stormy, passionate symphony. Seeing her gifts of art and love, as the fire that holds everything together from above. She breathes in the sweetness of a vibrant red rose, from her delicate hands, the whole world she does hold.
Mars moving onward in Aries in an epic voyage that’s lasted half a year! His lovers tune seducing his soul, freeing his vibrations to a place that is bold. As Robert Frost said, “Freedom lies in being bold.”
Jupiter moving away from Pluto and into a tighter conjunction with Saturn, in Capricorn, in tension with Aries’ fire. The strategy of caution serving hope in a most noble of ways. We’ve learned so much in these past few hundred days.
Uranus in Taurus- the evolution of nature, becoming more natural, to reflect on
Neptune in Pisces- the dream in the Seasonal archer’s heart- As Ralph Waldo Emerson said “we aim above the mark to hit the mark.”
The Moon
The Moon as mentioned will be Full in Gemini at the beginning of the week, the sign of the hands, Aristotle’s “tool of tools”. Evidence of Sagittarian spirit shimmer in the stone carvings of the ancient world, at the skill of ancient hands.
Full Moons are nights of illumination.
As Langston Hughes said
“I look at my own body With eyes no longer blind-
And see that my own hands
can make
The world that’s in my mind.”
In the later hours of Tuesday night she wanes gibbous in Cancer, her true habitat of Moon. Bears are beginnng to head to their caves, light is dwindling in the days. In the flourescence of the Horse’s Season, a Cancer Moon is a perfect reason, to find some Hooga with dimmed down lights. Store some power in the soul’s delight!
Friday, Saturday and most of Sunday host a Leo Moon, and the atmosphere is full of fire. The fire of expression! The radiant life of love. In our upward flight that moves to the right, who can push aside this Eternal delight. As Venus comes into trine with all encompassing Neptune, echoes of the Four Tops ring out into the ether- Reach out..
By Sunday afternoon, a Virgo Moon wanes on- in the spirit of learning, and the ever-in-motion weaving of the imagination with experience.
In which direction are you going, and where are you coming from?
Over the weekend we had a Seasonal shift, from Scorpio’s realm to Sagittarius’ lift. What did we learn in the profound outerbounds, in the deep zone of our bones where truth hangs around? What comes next? After an encounter with such mystery?
French surrealist artist Yves Klein said, “At first there is nothing, then there is a profound nothingness, after that a blue profundity.”
At the age of 19 Klein and his two friends, the artist Arman and composer Claude Pascal, lay on a beach in Southern France. They decided to divide the world between themselves. Pascal chose words, Arman chose the Earth, and Klein chose the sky.
What ensued was a life-long obsession and devotion to the color blue. Signing the sky with his hand, he committed to a quest to reach the far side of the infinite. He saw that unlike other colors that arouse specific associative ideas, blue at most suggests the sea and sky, and thus is “beyond dimension.”
Sagittarius Season celebrates this sense of blue. Beyond dimension. A place to dream, and feel a full sense of vitality. Though it’s true that November is known more for it’s falling temperature, the horse insists on acknowledging this place of blue space; this high of open sky.
Goethe, in his theory of colors, saw the blue sky to be the darkness of space, lit up by the presence of sunlight in our atmosphere. The deep space of beyond lit up before our eyes, with each waking day under the blue of the skies. But what of the deep space that exists from within, does it too become lightened, a blue sky built-in?
An inner blue sky, lightened with optimism, hope and acknowledgment. Beyond just a knowing, a showing of knowing.
You know the music is good, from the depths of the dark, but nodding your head acknowledges this spark. That joke is funny says the depths of you, but laughing acknowledges this fact to be true! Darkness made light, in the truth of the blue. From knowledge to acknowledgment, a major breakthrough!
With Thanksgiving on thursday, acknowledgment will rise, with appreciation to those we have loved for so long. The spirit of appreciation, the sweetest of songs. William James saw the craving of appreciation to be the deepest principle of human nature. Be generous with it in this skyward Season.
The planets are short on air this week. Social and connected air. Holidays for most will be celebrated remote. With both Mercury and Venus in Scorpio, communication and relating is not short on depth. Over the phone or online, connection is primed, to make up for these distances of space and timezone, with a sense of belonging, Scorpio’s powerful lodestone. And even if no socialization occurs, tune into a place, that makes your blood stir. Earth magic abounds from its depths and yours too, from a profound nothingness to the profundity of blue!
Venus will oppose the great awakener Uranus in the bountiful earth of Taurus. William Blakes thankful receiver who “bears a plentiful harvest.”
Mars moving onward from the middle of Aries, no other direction better for such energy. Must be the Season of the horse, with those wide open plains, the galvanized Will grips gladly the reigns!
Ready to check him are Jupiter, Pluto and Saturn, who continue in Capricorn a most hyper-real pattern. Empowered hope and strong practicality, looming threats and good news in the same actuality. As Robert Frost said, “the best way out is always through.”
Neptune in Pisces, the sea-chariot that navigates a blue inner-sky.
The Moon
The Moon begins the week waxing gibbous in the later degrees of Pisces. Saturated with imaginative potential, be open to nuance, suggestion and subtlety- new roads of dreams are paved with discovery!
On Tuesday, original day of Mars, she will grow into Aries by mid morning. In the Season of Blue skies, a redness bursts forth. The connection of action to a home-base of hearth. As Rainer Maria Rilke wrote, “All the soarings of my mind begin in my blood.”
This kindred fire of Moonlight grows through most of Thanksgiving day. Big and bold this Aries Moon, singing in red a mysterious tune; of memory, family, belonging and desire. Towards what does your wolf-like yearning aspire? Joyce Carol Oates called the blood “memory without language.”
By Friday as Venus receives her strongest electric wave from Uranus, the Moon, moving into luxurious Taurus, wants in on the act. A sensual relaxing yet altogether lively signature, much like the way Goethe described the color blue. In his words, “This color has a peculiar and almost indescribable effect on the eye. As a hue it is powerful- but it is on the negative side, and in its highest purity is, as it were, a stimulating negation. Its appearance, then, is a kind of contradiction between excitement and repose.”
Perhaps it is this blue energy that prompts Neptune to finally station to move direct, on Saturday, after nearly 5 months of retrograde. The stimulating negation, the effortless creation, of a dream.
By Sunday midday she waxes extremely gibbous in Gemini, and there is at last, air in the planetary line-up. Perspective and ease of rationality, a lightness perhaps or just some good old fashioned fresh air. She moves towards being not only a Full Moon, but a Full Moon Lunar Eclipse, in sparkling Gemini, the dance of the Twins. This event will be exact the following Monday, at 4 am, so both nights will be excellent opportunities to view it.
As a Lunar Eclipse, the earth will be in between the Sagittarian Sun and the Gemini Moon, casting an earth Shadow, darkening the light, likely casting a coppery-red tone. In the Season of lightened darkness, we have a darkened brightness. The Twins laugh with delight. Use the youthful energy of Gemini Moonbeams, to acknowledge possibilities that are yet to be seen. Shine the light on just one and create something new. And Gemini loves words, especially the ones that need to be heard. Acknowledge another, with a kind-hearted word, it may kindle music from happiness’ blue bird.
From granted to gracious, life gets more spacious.
Yves Klein wrote his name on the sky, painting monochrome surfaces to see with his own eyes- an “absolute freedom” (his words exact). For the horse, it’s a wide open space that attracts.
The Full June Moon Friday will make you SWOON- in Sagittarius-, the high flying horse. Heights are romance’s true love- and the horse knows the secret of flight- the secret of lightening the heart and mirroring the beauty that surrounds you-
“Perception is a mirror not a fact. And what I look on is my state of mind, reflected outward.” -Ralph Waldo Emerson
This Full Strawberry Moon will occur on June 5th, a Friday- original day of Venus. Venus herself will be opposite it- conjunct the Sun, wearing strawberry-colored lipstick on her smile!
The Sun and Venus in Gemini- the sign of the living silver- the reflective magic of mirroring felt most easily in the presence of a smile.
“A smile is the best makeup a girl could wear”- Marilyn Monroe, Gemini.
This Moon will be in square with Mars in Pisces- adding much beguile to the smile. Some ocean to the potion! Soften those eyes and look upon the Full Moon- listen for the waves!
Know as the Strawberry Moon, or the Rose Moon- with Strawberries being a member of the Rose family- one more reason to admit- that this June Moon is ready to make you SWOON.
Happy Astro Pondering!
Don’t forget to hear the full weekly Metaphorcast here.
Sagittarius Season has commenced. The smell of pine trees find their way into your local shopping mart. Glimmering lights are beginning to sprout up in the neighborhood. It’s cold outside, but the inner hearth is warming up.
Here are 3 things you can do to actively engage with the spirited archetype of the Archer!
1. Fire your arrow of attention at positive targets.
When you find yourself in a tailspin of repetitive negative thoughts, the happy horse is here to remind you of your superpower. You can aim your arrow of attention at another target, one that provides you with a better emotional response. This is not denial of feeling, this is true maturity. This is choosing what feelings you would like to see recede into the distance, and what feelings you would like to see come forth. This is your birthright as a conscious human being.
The Centaur has immense strength and skillful aim.
2. Soak up the sights of a grand vista!
No other sign knows the importance of wide open spaces like the eager-to-run horse. Grand open spaces are a release from the pesky details of the day to day that diminish the deeper meanings of life as a whole. Standing out in an open field, or up on a mountain, or even just outside instead of inside refreshes the mind with an intuition of a greater meaning to life. Don’t forget to soak up some vista sights!
Where did those troubles go?
3. Say yes to the zest!
Eat your food! Your food for life, which is the zest of living. If things are becoming too mechanical and meaningless- take a day off! Your soul needs spiritual food just like your body!
There you have it. Onward with the Season of the Horse!
After a deeply saturated Scorpionic Venus graced our Halloween- she is now ready to hang up her witches hat in favor of untamed electricity! In fond favor of the freedom to expand this way and that in a flash of brilliance. The Goddess.. is getting giddy!
Giddy– up!
Venus is that part within us that says “I prefer this instead of that”. It is the aesthetic preference always at work, largely operating on a subconscious basis. The judgement that takes place in our minds at any given moment of the day. Venus is part sensual (Taurus) and part mental (Libra). She is not a slave to her preferences because she can think about what is truly best for her, even when it is not the sensual winner.
“Mmm yes, very nice.. but maybe not for breakfast” -Venus. *note or maybe YES if she finds good reason! The scales are always balancing out the rationale!
When aesthetic preferences inhabit the domain of the Archer, you can expect a leaning towards things of an enthused, optimistic and morally aware nature. The aesthetics that are looking extra good right now are ones that promise the soul a LIFT.
It feels good to feel good!
Sagittarius is definitely the high-flying spirited archetype. The bubbling nature that begins somewhere inside and breaks out into laughter, catching on to others in a wildfire of contagion. The fire of Sagittarius is a fire that lifts the spirit, as well as gently encouraging it to rise, as with a good spiritual and moral awareness. To be in tune with the Sagittarian vibe is is to be in tune with a spiritual appetite. An appetite that is hungry for meaning and real knowledge.
Sagittarian enthusiasm and learning have always gone hand in hand.
The zest that comes about with Sagittarius joy is a zest that wants more zest. The fire of the Centaur is the fire of the visionary. The power of the visionary is to increase an understanding of what is truly vital. At it’s most central teaching, the visionary understanding is an understanding of life itself. Something that will never be uninteresting!
This kind of education can strike in a flash- like lightning!
So pay attention to where your preferences are leaning this next month! Can you help steer your faithful steed into places of spirited learning?
The sky is the limit! (Rene Magritte has Venus in Sagittarius).
It is Sagittarius Season, a time of integrating the lessons of the Archer. Let’s go straight to the mouths of some famous fiery centaurs to best get at the kernels of this excitable wisdom.
Jupiter is Zeus, the sky-god. The sky gives a sense of no limits, endless expansion. Hendrix’s guitar has the same effect. Just look at the gleam in his eye, a total give-away for the zest of this mutable Fire sign.
A Sagittarian understands that seeking is what needs to happen. Things don’t just fall on your lap. You have to engage in the journey.
The Archer understands that indeed, it IS more about the AIM. It is the aim of a goal that generates enthusiasm and spirit. If we keep the aim in sight, we keep the spirit kindled, the faith alive, and the enthusiasm ignited.
Zest is absolute nourishment for a Sagittarian. It permits them to fly high with their ideas and imagination. The contagious fire can then spread and catch on with others, creating inspiration and wonder for the masses.
Sagittarius teaches us that hope is a gentle yet very potent thing. If we can keep a dose of it in our hearts, we are well on our way to kindling the robust fire of Sagittarian strength,
It was Jim Morrison’s idea to name the band the Doors based on Aldous Huxley’s book “The Doors of Perception”, which was derived from the William Blake line: “If the door of perception were cleansed, everything would appear to man as it is: infinite”. Sagittarius is a door, an opportunity, a gateway to a broader perspective.
A Sagittarian understands that attitude is everything. It’s not what happens in life it’s our attitude towards these events that matters. Attitude is altitude. Sinatra’s songs often inspire a sense of brazen confidence, “if I can make it there I’ll make it anywhere”… “regrets I’ve had a few, but then again too few to mention.” Sagittarius reminds you to always believe in yourself.
Sagittarius is a day-time dreamer. It dreams and then it points it’s arrow towards this broad and far-reaching ideal. Jupiter co-rules both Sagittarius and Pisces, both of which are associated with dreaming. Pisces is underwater, therefore the dreams are more rooted in the dark subconscious. Sagittarius is the sky, therefore the dreams are more conscious. Spielberg stays true to his Sagittarian center with day-time dreaming.
Sagittarius teaches us to be true to our values, and protect them to foster a true and personalized sense of “rightness”. Having a strong sense of morality is medicine for Sagittarius. Jon Stewart has made a living through the sharing of perspectives to attempt to arrive at new understandings.
Sagittarius has an inner fiery promise of purpose buried within. This sign seeks meaning, and it will travel far to find it.
Happy Sagittarius Season. May the spark be lit, then encouraged to grow, where it can guide you and become delightfully contagious in spirit. Let the sky-horse carry you away to places you know you’d like to be. These places are within reach. Dare to dream in the daylight. Encourage you zest and be mindful of your values. What a wonderful time of year.
Paul Simon ran into Joe DiMaggio at a restaurant after the famous “Mrs. Robinson” song hit the airwaves, and was able to address the rationale for writing that line, as DiMaggio was a bit confused by it, since he hadn’t really gone anywhere. Paul Simon explained to him that the line meant, where have all the great heroes gone, which satisfied Joe.
It does seem to resonate on some mysterious and deep level that DiMaggio is more than a great ball player. He is, as Simon put it, a great hero. Someone who inspires the public and lifts it’s spirit. When someone is inspired by a hero, they too walk taller, and live with more confidence. Simon saw the need for this inspiration as he wrote “our nation turns it’s lonely eyes to you.”
This is the domain of Sagittarius and Jupiter.
To be lifted up, out of the doldrums and into a place of faith and confidence is the domain of Jupiter, and it’s associated sign Sagittarius.
DiMaggio couldn’t be brighter with Sagittarian fire, with Sun, Venus and Mars all together on the Ascendant, the “dawn” of the horoscope. He dawns on others with an impossible to miss ray of inspiring hope and heroism.
What’s really amazing is that you can even see the long face of the horse, which is a Sag trademark. For more on strikingly accurate facial features of the zodiac, visit William Shrieb’s site- Astrovisions
This month marks a homecoming for Jupiter, as it re-enters Sagittarius
Celebrating Jovial Jupiter’s re-entrance into Sagitarrius. This archetype is effervescent, bubbling with enthusiasm, eager to enjoy the celebration.
As of November 8th of this year, Jupiter has moved into it’s natural habitat of Sagittarius, an event that occurs every 12 years. Jupiter spends one year in each sign of the zodiac. The year ahead is a metaphorical return of Joe DiMaggio, a return of inspiration.
As joyous as it sounds, like any planet or archetype, it is a spectrum of positive and negative. When examining what this transit means for you, we must look at the full psychology of Sagittarius.
The psychology of REWARD.
Seeking rewards is such a common event in daily life and we are most often completely unaware of operating this way. Even something as simple as grabbing your morning coffee is geared to obtaining the reward of feeling awake and alert.
Agent Cooper is following his Jupiter promptings when drinking his damn fine coffee
Jupiter has always been associated with rewarding experiences, as well as luck and joviality. In this way it is traditionally perceived as more benevolent than other planets, like Saturn for example which is associated with restriction. But there is error in this perception, for the psychology of reward can put you in trouble just as fast as the psychology of restriction.
And then maybe a bit too much Jupiter with this amount of donuts.
What this transit means for you
This transit marks a time to look at the year ahead and ask yourself, what are your ideals? Where do you find yourself looking up to others. Where do you continually seek inspiration? What kind of rewards do you seek on a daily basis? Do you satisfy these needs in healthy or not so healthy ways?
Jupiter is the broader vision of our life. The pattern-seeking and the “what if” thinking. Jupiter encourages us to dream in our waking life, and look for all sorts of possibilities.
Sagittarius’ arrow is pointed upward with intent, towards high ideals.
So the metaphorical spirit lift of a great hero is returning this year. This is the hero of your own enthusiasm and your own faith in what you can do. The psychology of this psychic fire must be tamed by your rational mind.
For instance, just because you believe you can fly doesn’t make it necessarily so.
The gift of Jupiter moving back into Sagittarius is one to be celebrated, reflected upon and channeled into a helpful way. If you feel like you’ve gone too long without a lift in spirits, look for ways that it is trying to find you now.
Spirits do best when lifted
Sometimes a glance at the natal chart, indicating where Jupiter is specifically transiting in regards to your own psychological starry imprint can be especially helpful. On the flip side, if you feel swamped in a theme of “excess”, Jupiter can shed light on where or why this is happening, so you can gain a better sense of control.
For the year ahead:
Joe DiMaggio revved up the spirits of many. Think about who, in your personal life or in the public eye, has had this type of effect on you.
Let’s begin with his Sun, which is in Sagittarius. His solar energy runs on inspiration, bigness, and optimism. “If I can make it there I’ll make it anywhere” packs an extreme punch coming from the mouth of this man. It seeps into our souls and makes us BELIEVE in ourselves and our potentials. His Mercury is conjunct the Sun, so his words carry forth this uplifting energy. This conjunction is in the 2nd house of his own values and talents.
Life is a barrel of laughs when your in the rat pack. Sinatra pictured here with Sammy Davis Jr and Dean Martin. Typical Sagittarius gleefully indulging in a lifestyle of excess (booze and smokes) and living like there’s no tomorrow.
Now let’s look at his Moon. It’s in dreamy Pisces. His reigning need is to merge with the mysteries of life. In this quest he emits a dreaminess. It’s hard not to immediately call up the Looney Tunes version of him, where he is depicted rail-thin on a stage with all sorts of animals swooning “Frankie!!” and falling to the ground. They are under his spell. His Moon is in the 5th house of creative self expression.
From Looney Tunes, “Swooner Crooner”, this hen is under his spell…. “oh Frankie!”
To emphasize this dreamy component, there is Neptune at the Midheaven. His public role wrapped up in an ethereal “je ne sais quoi”. And then there is Jupiter (always highlighted for a Sagittarius) squaring (giving structure to) his Sun, in what sign? Pisces! His own optimism and faith (Jupiter) restored by feelings of divine beauty and mystery.
“Old Blue Eyes” putting forth a look of reverie
Don’t we want to know about his Venus? With all that charm he displays? Well let’s talk about it. It’s in Capricorn AND opposed Saturn, which basically just amps up that Capricorn. His charm is CLASSIC (Capricorn). He is threaded into society (Capricorn), as reflected by his MANY connections to politicians (also a Sagittarius theme), mobsters, and hollywood stars. This Venus is in the third house of communications, putting that charm right where it’s needed, on that golden voice of his.
Ava Gardner was Sinatra’s second wife, followed by Mia Farrow.
At Peter Lawford’s house with Marilyn Monroe.
Pisces Moon’s can be very sensitive people. This may explain him converting to be a republican overnight when JFK snubbed him by choosing Bing Crosby’s house to stay at during a convention instead of his. He had built a helipad and everything!! Turns out Bobby Kennedy insisted that John not stay there because of all of Sinatra’s ties to the mob. Sinatra ended up tearing apart the helipad with a sledgehammer.
Before the helipad incident these two were chums
On an ending note, Sinatra displays such a gorgeous balance of his Sun and Moon energies, which is something we all strive to do. There’s a reason why the apparent size of the Sun and Moon are the same from where we stand on Earth. He has this balance. His Sagittarius larger than life, filled with inspiration, his Pisces dreamy as the day is long. That’s why I would like to dub him Frank Sinatra, Piscittariun .
