To Everything Turn Turn Turn. Venus enters Taurus.

Venus will go into Taurus on Wednesday, April 14th.  Salvador Dali was born with Venus in Taurus (and was a Taurus himself).  He famously said, “I don’t do drugs.  I am drugs.”  Venus in Taurus loves a good embodiment.

Just like a Dali painting, Venus in Taurus has a far out side.  To the furthest reaches of the universe in fact.

Last post we explored the ideas of inventor and cosmologist, Arthur M. Young and we will stick with him again in this post, namely his ideas about the torus.

What makes the torus such an interesting shape? - Quora

Taurus is the 2nd sign of the zodiac, and the torus field is composed of two rotating circularities.  One rotation is edging around the donut, the other is through the middle and back up around the side.

It is the rotation that is of importance with the torus, and only the rotation.  The rotation is what connects the inner most part of you (and any other creature) with the farthest reaches of the universe.  Are you beginning to sense a melting clock?

This is quite natural. As Young explains, in the “phase dimension” (theorized by Arthur Eddington) rotation is all that counts.  There is no time.  With this dimension Eddington discovered that the curvature of space-time is the same as the rotation that’s implicit in the photon.  The curve of space-time and the curve of uncertainty (that exists in each photon) appear to be the same thing. He did what seems to still be impossible today. He married quantum theory with relativity, merging the infinitesimally small with the grand expanse.

Young puts an extra spin to this when he said that the dimension of rotation is also the dimension of choice, a freedom always present in some capacity. He also discovered that the mathematical formula for the torus and the Einstein-Eddington hypersphere was the same.

Make it two. Eddington’s on his way.

Taurus then, is the shape of everything, a dimension of pure rotation, connecting us as separate and willful individuals to the farthest reaches of space by design.  By our use of choice, we embody this dimension.

Dali said “I dont do drugs.  I am drugs.”  In the toroidal universe, you don’t make choices you are choice. You are free-will (what Young equates with uncertainty).  It is uncertainty, or free-will that underlies all existence.  The photon and free-will are one and the same, rotating in sync with the great sweeps of space-time.

Have you ever felt a certain good choice to strengthen you on a real bodily level?  How about the opposite?  Have you ever been so out of touch with your own power of choice that you felt somewhat outside of yourself?

With this transit it is time to get back in sync with the curve!  Trust in your body’s feedback when it comes to choices.  It’s, shall we say, well-connected. 😉

Venus will rotate in Taurus until May 8th when she will jump into Gemini!

Happy choosing, and as always happy astro pondering!

Action Is The New Atom. New Moon in Aries

Have you ever wondered what it is that exists at the utmost root of things?  It was not long ago that science responded to this question with the atom, whose name means indivisible one.  But as we know now, atoms can be split and there is a whole weird quantum world beyond it.  So what is it then, that is most fundamental to our existence?

In his book, The Reflexive Universe, inventor and cosmologist Arthur M. Young sees this answer to be clear: it is action, not matter that is most basic to the universe we live in.  He also sees this universe to be purposeful in it’s evolution.

“Science builds its edifice on mass, length and time.  The suspicion of purpose only occurs in action, which combines all three.  Is it possible that there is something present in the whole that is not in the parts?”

Who, if anyone, does not long for a sense of wholeness?  Wholeness beckons us from grocery aisles with green marketing logos and from the bulletin boards on the way out that features happy yoga people in a moment of bliss.  But have you ever considered that wholeness is what lies in your decision to drive to the store in the first place?

As Young points out; you can’t make a decision one and a half times.  Actions come in wholes.

It was Max Planck who first came up with the notion that action comes in wholes, or quanta.  He discovered the constant, an elementary quantum of action, which lead Einstein to discovering that light exists in discrete quantity of energy, or photons.

Unlike the atom, this quantum of action can’t be split apart.  It’s a notion of true undivided wholeness, you might even say, the true atom.

“There’s a new one?”

Young explains that light itself is pure action because “light is not seen; it is seeing.”  A photon can not be seen twice.  It’s detection is it’s annihilation.

Light is pure action, unattached to any object, like the smile without the cat.”

-Arthur M. Young, The Reflexive Universe

Emerson said “A right action seems to fill the eye and be related to all of nature.”

The Aries New Moon (Sunday, April 11th) is an invitation to ponder a “new atom”.  A new answer to what exists at the utmost root of all existence.  A new point of view that sees wholeness as inherent in the nature of action, decision, and purposive activity.

This New Moon receives a square from powerful Pluto in lawful Capricorn, empowering us to, as Young advises, “ use law instead of being blocked by it”.  For Young, deterministic laws of nature are what is necessary for us to have means to achieve a goal.  Rather than a question of determinism versus free-will, he sees determinism as the agency of free-will.  How could you plan to start your car if you couldn’t count on the keys starting the ignition?

With goals and the means to carry them out, actions can vibrate stronger with purpose!

A New Moon, a new atom, a new you!  On the most fundamental level, you are free as a photon!  You are light and laughter!  Beyond even time itself, for as Young points out, “clocks stop at the speed of light.”

Happy actions, and happy astro pondering!

Nothing Happens Until Something Moves. New Moon in Aquarius

In 1936 a not-yet-famous Tennessee William sat in the audience of Ibsens’ play “Ghosts.” But he didn’t sit for long. The play soon moved him so much that it moved him straight out of his seat and he had to pace up and down in the back aisle.

This Thursday the 11th, we have a New Moon in Aquarius, the sign of the Water Bearer, the sign of us, of human beings, with full potential to feel things and allow ourselves to be moved.

You can practically see movement in Aquarius’ glyph of two wavy lines.

Einstein said, “Nothing happens until something moves. When something vibrates, the electrons of the entire universe resonate with it. Everything is connected.”

Most of the planets in the sky are currently buzzing in Aquarius. Uranus, the planet associated with Aquarius is in the self-sustaining sign of Taurus, along with Mars, resonating like a Tibetan singing bowl over the rest of the buzz.

Taurus, often associated with money, is also the notion of taking stock in something. Just think what would have not happened if Tennessee Williams put no stock in the emotion that propelled him off his seat.

What has been moving you lately? Anything worthy of taking stock in? Anything worthy of cultivating?

The movement you feel might be strong enough to propel you off your seat, but it also might be more subtle. A special shift, and all of a sudden some chemicals inside stir. Maybe you feel a quickening of energy. Maybe the other side of the universe feels it too!

The movement of Aquarius’ wavy lines hint at the magic of feedback loops, always at work in the present moment.

Alfred North Whitehead said “What we perceive as the present is the vivid fringe of memory tinged with anticipation.”

That sure adds a dose of dynamism to the moment! The fringe of memory and the tinge of anticipation, fringe and tinge! Vibrating sounds, vibration abounds!

These feedback loops show the logic of an optimistic attitude (i.e don’t let that fringe sabotage the tinge and vice versa!) Such a correspondence also shows the grand potential of letting art, love, or anything else move us.

Put some stock in those special emotions!

Weekly Astrology Metaphorcast 10/5-11, 2020

Into the middle of Libra Season, the sign that celebrates the middle itself.  The riddle of the middle, balancing extremes, that quantum pinpoint between reality and dreams.

Libra’s sword divides the mind, separating the hemispheres to create more awareness.  In the creation of new awareness life strives onward and upward to better understand itself.  Libra is romantic reality, the relational nature of consciousness itself.

Writer philosopher Owen Barfield sees consciousness evolving with a shift from the outside to the inside.  Primitive man’s thoughts were, as he called it an “original participation”, an immediate experience inside the world’s unity, where as we are now outside of it.  When we think now, we think about something, and the very definition of about is “to be outside of”.

Libra and her liberty thrives on this outsidedness- from here she is free to find new connections and form new thoughts.  Yet, ever the romantic, there is a longing.  A longing to be embedded once again with nature.  A longing to return to the world’s unity.  Barfield saw this only to be possible through metaphor.  What was once the “principal of living unity” now lives in the poetic vision of the individual, with all it’s romantic yearning.

As the poet Yeats said, “Nothing that we love over-much Is ponderable to our touch.”

As Mercury moves through the powerful currents of Scorpio, the mind is aware of the power that comes from synthesis.  The rebirth of new life into the present moment from the synthesis of memory, sensation, thought and reflection.  The wealth of memory in your bank, from which vital currents can emerge, as new, as powerful, as magic?

Venus, the Seasonal planet in Virgo, the sign of the scientist.  In the Season of relational synthesis, she sees herself as incomplete, and yearns to unite her science with art.  As Einstein said,  “After a certain high level of technical skill is achieved, science and art tend to coalesce in esthetics, plasticity, and form. The greatest scientists are artists as well.”

Mars still retrograde in the late degrees of Aries and coming into a square with Pluto later this week.  As Libra weighs her options Mars finds a way.  With subterranean pressure, explosive outbursts may occur- Unite your science with your art, and transcend any despair, find the facts of your heart and the love in the air.  With such balance, you’ll find a way.

Jupiter Direct along with Saturn in Capricorn- inspiration and ambition moving forward in the sign of natural law.  A further look into the nature of human evolution, with it’s own laws.  Laws that by Pierre Teilhard de Chardin’s definition are anti-entropic.  These laws march uphill, with the aid of the Sun’s energy, producing increased variety and a higher degree of organization.  At this advanced state, awareness becomes the most important characteristic of life.

Uranus in Taurus- awareness at the heart of evolution.

Neptune in Pisces- the growing value of what is within.

The Moon

The Moon begins the week waning gibbous in Taurus, the sign of Earth beauty.  A mood of holding, a craving of attainment.  Put that wallet away, the only bank you need is that of your memory! To synthesize with sensation, and lovingly attain a dose of new awareness.

Tuesday and Wednesday host a Gemini Moon, with Mercury opposing Uranus.  Quaking trickster energy, like the bubbling up of a laugh.  Follow your silly side during these two days, it just might lead you to your genius.  As Libra-extradinaire Arthur Rimbaud said, “Genius is the recovery of childhood at will.”

By Thursday midday we cozy up to a Cancer Moon that sails us into her last quarter by Saturday.  A family Moon, a memory Moon, formative with the magnetic pull of the past.  A living water that loves to be reshaped.  An anchor made of water.  Changeable, electric, healing and refreshing.  With Libra’s joy of choice, how will you reshape this water into matter, that is, moments that matter?

By Saturday night a Leo Moon wanes on, illuminating the power of the affirmative.  In Libra’s power of choice she structures an an ultimate attitude, that follows her like a love-struck atmosphere.  Will she look for the way, or be weighed down by dismay?  Will she be alive in the striving, or just passively surviving?

Once a part of the apple, she had to go ahead and bite it. Once on the inside looking out, she is now on the outside looking in- deep deep within- to that uncharted terrain- of the imagination.

As always, happy astro pondering!
