Ouranos (Uranus) was the original sky-god, associated with the primal creative urge. Here is is son, Saturn (god of time) castrating him, and putting a stop to wild and unbounded creation. Ouranos is the the wave of creation, Saturn is the law of time. So, yes! Waves are older than time!
